German language courses:

Goethe University offers international students a variety of possibilities to learn or improve the german language (Tandems, intensive courses, preparing courses,). Mainly these courses are offered by the ISZ (Internationales Studienzentrum), which also provides different easy-access services such as a writing café to help students study in German. The website is also providing some useful dictionaries.

Living in Frankfurt

It’s not easy to find a nice and affordable place in Frankfurt, so we recommend you to start searching early. Most students live in dorms provided by the Studentenwerk (student union), which are rare and the waiting list is long, or in shared flats.

To get more information on the student unions dorms and to apply for a room follow this link:

Students often search for shared flats on WG-gesucht:

www.wg-gesucht.de

Another possibility when searching for a place to live is to enter the private rental market. Rental advertisements can be found in the Internet or in the real estate section of daily newspapers such as the "Frankfurter Rundschau" or "Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung".

Some websites for the accommodation hunt in the private rental market:

Internationaler Studientreff

Join the "Internationaler Studientreff" (IST)! The IST, a project launched by the International Office, wants to help international students during their first steps at the university and in Frankfurt and to get in touch with other students. For this purpose, we offer a consultation hour (twice a week) and a "Get together" (mostly once a week), which are supposed to give you useful information about the german culture, everyday life, the university etc.! In addition, you can participate in one of our excursions in and around Frankfurt.
